Golf - Kintyre Course - Hole 17 Perfect Play

Kintyre Championship Course

Hole 17 - Perfect Play Explained

017 kintyre

This is a testing long par 4 hole that dog legs from left to right. The tee shot must be supremely accurate here. Two bunkers on the right and the burn that runs to the edge of the fairway, some 30 yards behind the bunkers, mean that only a well place drive will escape trouble. The tee shot must hug the left side of this fairway but be careful not to go too far left because thick rough is waiting; any tee hot leaving even a little can be evilly gathered into the burn. From a good drive you get a good view of this well protected putting surface. Two greenside bunkers to the left of the green and a severe slope to the right make it a difficult green to hit. The approach shot, of approximately 180 yards, will have to be well struck to hold this green that slopes from back to front and from left to right. Putting from above the hole can be treacherous and par is always a great score on the 17th hole of The Kintyre.
